Greetings to all our members and friends of Kansas Baptist Church,

We began the month with a visitation program. The first Saturday of April groups went into the community of Kansas and delivered information packets to every home.  We want the community of Kansas to know that Kansas Baptist Church cares about them.  In this packet was information about our safe rooms and contact numbers to call for information.  We are setting up a committee with people responsible for unlocking the Family Life Center and making the safe rooms available during the threat of severe weather.  We have received a warm welcome into the homes of the community.  I want to thank all those involved in this effort to inform the residents of Kansas.

We enjoyed another great youth night the first Sunday night in April.  Our youth were totally in charge of the meeting.  The youth group sang a special. Then  Kristy Smith, Allee Garner, and Erin Parker sang two songs. Stephen Cox brought the message. After the service we enjoyed a spaghetti  supper.  There was fun and games in the gym.  We are proud of our youth.  They are not afraid to let their faith show through their willingness to serve the Lord.

On April 30th, the annual Kansas Day in the Park was held.   Again as we have done the last two years, we had our hospitality booth.  We received donations for Kansas Park and gave  small items to children and refreshments to people who passed by.  It was a great day to meet visitors to Kansas and also the local residents.  We have received a tremendous amount of encouragement in what Kansas Baptist Church is doing.  We are having visitors most Sundays and there is a lot of interest in the community and excitement in the church.  I will also include in this report the first Sunday of May activities.  Our youth set up our hospitality tent and ministered to the visitors  at Shiloh Cemetery.  They had drinks and snacks for the visitors and toys that witnessed to the children.  Thanks to our youth and all who donated items for Kansas Day and Decoration Day.

PROJECT UPDATE: Soon the men's ministry will begin working on the inside of the Family Life Center.  We will begin work on the Fellowship room with the goal of completion by Homecoming.  It is exciting to see how God is working.  He is touching hearts and lives in a very special way.  How thankful I am just to be a part of this project.  So many are giving, not only their money but are sharing their skills in the work.  It is such a blessing to see and experience the joy of working together in God's work here at Kansas. The building Committee  will soon decide on a supplier for materials for the work in the fellowship room and work will begin.

We want to thank each of you who are part of this work through your gifts.  Some have pledged and are giving monthly.  Some are giving on special occasions such as Mother's Day.  Many have given in memory or in honor of someone who has been a special blessing to them.  We have received many donations from those getting this newsletter and we certainly want you to know that we appreciate your love and expression of your faith in Christ and in us.

Financial Report: We have received for the month of April $723.10. in donations.  We now owe FNB  $23,817.20.  We have $12,773.92 in the building fund.  As of April 30th we have raised the total of $185,934.18. We are making a payment of $2000 each month on our loan from FNB.

ANNIE ARMSTRONG EASTER OFFERING: Thanks for giving to the Easter offering.  The total offering was $1,051.00.  It is exciting to know we are a part of bringing God's love to those in need of love.  It is a blessing to be a part of a family of people who believe in sharing the"Good News."                                    ---- Marie Hartley
