Greetings to all our members and friends of Kansas Baptist Church,

Greetings in the Name of Jesus!

I hope this finds you having a blessed day in the Lord.  With each of these Newsletters comes a prayer for the reader.  Our prayer is that you will receive from the Lord the things that He has prepared for you, that He will fill you with the joy that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

The month of May was a special time in the community of Kansas. The decoration at Shiloh cemetery brings many of our former residents back to town for a visit.  It was a delight to meet several that we have not seen in a number of years.  We appreciate those who visited with us on that day.  Decoration month is a time of remembrance.  Our loved ones who meant so much to us are remembered and honored.  Where would we be if it were not for their love and labor that taught us many good lessons?

Our youth  program was wonderful this month. We have many  youth that are very talented.

Justin Pair was our special speaker this month.  Justin choose to use his singing talent.  He did well and everyone enjoyed his songs. The youth put on a skit that was very good.

PROJECT UPDATE: The men's ministry had two work days in May .  There was a general clean up around the church.  The grass was mowed.  Flowers were planted in the planter and some cleaning on  the inside of the Church.  We planted some boxwoods and spread rocks between the walks and the Family  Life Center.  On our second work day the men spread drive way gravel, mowed grass, and bush hogged a large area around the Church.

On May 30th  the Home Depot delivered our first load  of building materials  for the fellowship room and educational department.  The men's ministry is beginning to work on the inside.  We have delivered on site enough 2 by 4's to completely frame the fellowship and educational area.  Sheet rock and ceiling tile will be delivered as soon the weather permits.  Thanks to Larry Beasley and Ed Eads for figuring our materials and supplies.  Also a special thanks to Alton Concord for overseeing this project.  We are very excited about the possibilities of having our 2005 Homecoming meal in the new building.

Financial Report: For the month of May we received $ 1,463.00 in donation plus $2.72 in interest toward the Family Life Center.  We have reserved in the building fund $11,334.64.  We have now raised to date $187, 399.90. We are making a payment of $2000. 00 each month to the First National Bank of Carbon Hill.  We now owe FNB a total of $21,931.57.  Two donations were made in memory of  Mrs. Agnes Hartley and Gregory Willcox.

This has been beyond our expectation that at this point in time people like many of you would respond in the fashion that you have.  Not just a one time donation but also continuing with monthly donations.  It is a great feeling to know that we are leaving a memorial in Kansas that will speak of our faith to future generations.  You have a memorial here in Kansas because you are willing to give in Jesus' name. Plans are being made to have an August yard sale in the Family Life Center.  All funds made at this event will go on the building.  We are expecting to have many items donated for this sale. Keep this in mind as you continue your spring cleaning.  Call us and we will be happy to come and pick up your donated items.

Also another special fund raising  project will be our Homecoming Offering.  We hope many of you will be able to come this year and tour the building and consider making a Special Homecoming donation for the Family Life Center.

Vacation Bible School: This year we are doing our VBS different from the past.  We will be experimenting with a one day VBS.  The school will be Saturday, June 11th, 9AM to 3PM. If at all possible come and help us.  We will need helpers for the classes and various activities.  This will be a new experience for all of us.  If you know of children that may come, please call me.                                    ---- Marie Hartley
