Greetings to all our members and friends of Kansas Baptist Church,

It is hard to believe that Fall is just about here.  Summer vacations are over and the kids  are back in school.  The summer slump is over and folks are  beginning to get into a fall and winter routine.  It has been a busy summer at Kansas Baptist Church. The ministry and work on the building has kept some of us very busy.

Again we would like to express our thanks for all those who gave items for the yard sale and to those who came and worked.  It was a huge success.  The last total count was $1795.00 that was raised.  We still have a large number of items and more are being donated.  We are planning another yard day sale Saturday October 1.  If you have items you would like to donate, you may call the following numbers and we will be happy to come and pick them up. We will hold the items till homecoming, then the items that are not sold will be donated to the local Goodwill or some charitable organization.

On September 4th, we had a special Sunday evening worship.  For the worship and preaching hour, we went into the gym and boxed up clothing to be sent to the Hurricane Katrina disaster area.  There were twenty seven boxes packed with clothing.  Thanks to Charles and Karen Ivey for directing this project.

The church also voted in business meeting to donate $1000.00 to relief efforts for the families here in Walker County.  The Walker Baptist Association is working with other organizations to house several families who have taken refuge here.  As far as these people know at the present, they lost everything.  God always blesses those who bless other people in His Name.

We had a great time with the group Keregma! on Saturday the 20th.  This was a special youth evening with a Contemporary Praise and Worship band.  This band travels around the country and had more recently been to Sydney Australia proclaiming the good news of Jesus.  The word "keregma" means "The Gospel Proclaimed." After the praise and worship service there was a fellowship time in the Family Life Center.

Project Report: Work on the Family Life Center has been moving along good.  Much has been done.  Thanks to Ed Eads and Larry Beasley much of the wiring has now been completed, especially in the fellowship area.  Alton Concord and Stoney Pair have almost completed the hanging and finishing of the sheet rock.  As soon as the sanding on the walls is completed, we will be painting in preparation for the ceiling to be installed.  The ladies decided on a gas stove for the kitchen which has been paid for with a special donation.  The building committee decided to install one large heater in the gym as the gas line was run for the stove. Thanks for a designated donation, the walks now completely circle the building.   We are looking toward October 9th with great anticipation.  We hope that you will be here Homecoming and see what God has done and is doing at Kansas Baptist Church.  Thanks to so many of you for being open and sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and being lead to give to this work. Remember, you have an opportunity to make a special Homecoming Donation in honor or in memory of someone who has been a special blessing to you.  We will have the plaque with their names on it at Homecoming for you to view.  To date, we have more than thiry-five names engraved on this plaque.  If we receive your donation by October 2nd we will be able to have the name on it.  Names will be able to be added later as well.

Financial Report: Donations to the building fund for the month of August $3,166.00.  At the present time we have $5,746.04  in the building fund.  At this time we owe the FNB the total of $17,222.96.Total amount raised to date for Family Life Center: $194,961.96.
