Dear Member and Friends of Kansas Baptist Church ,

It is hard to believe that another month has passed by since our last Newsletter.  We are excited about things that are happening here at Kansas Baptist Church.  Our attendance is rising as the summer slump comes to an end.

With vacations ending and the children going back to school, we are setting down to working for the Lord.

August 1 in the evening we had a back to school event for our children.  The puppet ministry had a program that was well attended.  Thanks to all the puppeteers for a well planned program.  Afterwards, we had hotdog's and drinks, volleyball and water balloons and several of us got wet.

We plan for our youth to attend the Dad's Son and Daughter event at the Dotson Camp on the 28th. This should be a good time for the kids and men.

A special thanks to all those who accepted a position for the coming year here at Kansas.  We will be working together to accomplish great things for our Lord Jesus. We will soon be planning for our Homecoming which will be October 10 this year.  We hope that you can attend and worship with us. As usual, we will have lunch after the morning worship services.

Project Report: We are happy to announce that the official groundbreaking was Sunday 22nd after the morning worship services. The grading contractor should begin Monday morning August 23rd on the site to prepare for the concrete slab.  Our building contractor for the first phase of the building has given us a time frame in which we can expect things to be done.  There is a possibility that we can see the building put up by Mid-November.  If things go as planned we will be able to start on the second phase by December or January.

We are gathering information on different mission groups within Alabama who will come and provide labor in finishing the inside.  We are all praying that God will send people into our congregation that have special skills and want to be a part of this great work for God.  God has sent us several people who are working toward this Family Life Center becoming a reality.

Again as always, I want to thank all those who are making contributions to the fund raising for this work.  We are beginning to pay for some basic ground work out of the Building Fund.

In the future starting with this newsletter, we will be stating at the top the amount raised to date and give the amount of donations for the month.  The donations to the  building fund for July was $1,755.00.

Report on Pastorium: In a called business meeting August 25th the church gave the trustees the authority to proceed with the sale of the pastorium.  The bid process was approved and plans are being made for an open house to interested buyers.  The bid package  will be available at the open house and may be obtained at the church during services.  You may also contact our pastor at (205) 221-7660.  Alton Concord at (205) 924-9852.  Dale Pair at (205) 924-8548.

We will include more information in the August report.  We feel that God has someone who will give us a good bid and this in turn will enable us to complete the first phase of the Family Life Center.  The church voted to accept the First National Bank's offer of a Construction Loan line of credit.
